We might feel that 2019 has just started, but the calendar says something else. April is already here and a lot has happened since the beginning of the year – in the past few months, we’ve been quite busy visiting different countries (and continents!), attending multiple conferences and meeting with quite particular personas… Yes, we even had a chance to high five Tyson Fury at ICE in London! One thing at the time, though – let’s catch up with all things Raketech and see what we’ve been up to in the recent months.

Conferences & Workshops
In February Raketech’s staff attended the LAC and ICE conferences in London, spending almost a week to check out what’s going on in the iGaming industry, attending seminars, meeting existing partners and building new relationships. While some of us were catching up with the latest industry trends, Raketech’s SEO team was in the Netherlands attending YoastCon 2019– one of the biggest SEO conferences in Europe. Learning from the best in the industry, they participated in a number of workshops and talks to stay up-to-date with the latest SEO news. While here in Malta, we paid a visit to Casumo’s HQ, taking part in “Casumo Talks #3: Marketing – through the lens of the vulnerable player”. The event opened a dialogue on the importance of responsible marketing efforts and what the industry can do to ensure safer gambling. It was great to hear some inspiring stories from players who previously found themselves in the harmful gambling environment and now share their knowledge to help others, as well as the industry itself. It’s important to generate better awareness on compliance and responsible gambling, and this is something that sits high on Raketech’s agenda.

London, Netherlands, Malta and… back with a visit to Sweden! February was an extremely busy but also important month for everyone at Raketech. The company published a year-end 2018 report, finishing our first year-end as a public company. CEO Michael Holmberg and CFO Andreas Kovacs presented the results in Sweden, summarising another successful year. Now, we’re focusing on 2019, working harder to do even better in 2019 🙂

We finished 2018 with a fantastic Christmas party and began 2019 with some friendly competition. Raketech’s Bingo Night brought us together to play some bingo to win some great prizes. Then, a couple of Fridays after – we played a poker tournament at Dragonara Casino, a great event for staff to learn how to play and take their first steps into the poker world, while others honed their poker skills to earn the ultimate office bragging rights.
We, obviously, didn’t forget about Valentine’s Day, sharing some love (and sweets!) with each other. And as Malta is famous for its Carnival parties, we couldn’t let it go unnoticed and kicked-off the festive season at the office with some traditional Maltese pastries. Yes, we’re big foodies, but don’t worry, we also try to stay active and burn calories with weekly sports events and boot camp sessions. Recently we even tested our archery skills – it turned out some of us are naturals. Fair to say – others felt slightly better while on Segway’s, enjoying the sunset view over the cliffs.
Being caught up with every-day work we sometimes don’t find enough time to speak with teams and colleagues working on other projects. Our quarterly Pow Wow meet-ups are always a good occasion to catch up on all things Raketech. We also had a chance to host a guest speaker – Jonathan Shaw – who walked us through his inspirational story and encouraged us to never be afraid of a change but rather it as a key factor to self-improvement.

Raketech Conquers New York
Four lucky team members won a trip to New York back at our Christmas party. Guided by our very best Raketech event coordinator, they explored the Big Apple, over a pretty busy, yet super exciting weekend away. To get a feel for how it went, we asked the guys how the trip went down:
Freedom, Event Coordinator – “The weekend was action-packed, with a full itinerary planned we managed in three days what many tourists would do in a week. We covered everything from Central Park to the Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero, a Broadway show, and even got a behind-the-scenes New York city police department tour! Somehow, we also managed to squeeze in some time for some shopping! This was a fantastic experience which we are all extremely grateful to be given this opportunity by the company. Who better to spend it with other Raketech colleagues, hmm?
Roderick, Head of Development – “HR & Office Management really planned every detail of this trip, making sure we see the best parts and most of the city! It was a great experience, sure to be remembered, appreciating such a great gesture! NYC proved to be vibrant, vivacious and alive. You can do literally anything you want at any time of day, the city never sleeps and… neither does Raketech!”
