Responsible Gambling Week: 1-7 November 2018
Responsible Gambling Week is a campaign that aims to generate awareness of responsible gambling within the general public. The industry-wide initiative is back next month to spread awareness about responsible gambling throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Over 127,000 staff and 11,000 gambling venues, as well as online sites will be taking part in the Responsible Gambling Week. This is a great opportunity for us at Raketech, as a media and marketing company working in the gambling sector, to help spread the word on the importance of keeping gambling under control and sharing advice on how to gamble responsibly.

Gambling should never take over
There is no doubt that anyone who gambles is potentially at risk of gambling addiction, however, some people are more susceptible to gambling-related harm than others. People usually link the negative effects of gambling to the loss of money, however, your health, well-being and personal life can also be affected. The causes of excessive gambling can ruin relationships with friends, families and colleagues. The stigma surrounding gambling addiction means that an already hidden illness is even more concealed from the public eye – people do not feel comfortable speaking about excessive gambling. Responsible Gambling Week will help a wide number of people understand gambling issues and be better equipped to help themselves or people they care about before its too late.
What exactly does responsible gambling mean? Responsible gambling is when someone is able to control their levels of gambling, keeping it fun, affordable and not taking up all of their leisure time. However, not everyone can enjoy placing a regular bet on their favourite football team or is able to play the odd hand of online poker. Irresponsible gambling is when you can’t stop and this is when gambling becomes a problem.
Gambling companies follow rules and guidelines to ensure they offer a service that promotes responsible gambling and protects their players. At Raketech, we pride ourselves on being a responsible affiliate and provide advice, tips and support across our iGaming websites.
Playing games like poker should be fun and enjoyed as a social activity
Educate, entertain and enjoy!
The best way to generate mainstream awareness is by educating the general public and encouraging safe, fun and responsible gambling. The cross-industry initiative will see casinos, betting shops, gambling websites, amusement arcades, sports betting apps, charities and affiliate marketing companies like Raketech, joining forces to endorse responsible gambling across their websites, venues and social media channels.
The Responsible Gambling Week officially kicks-off from November 1-7. You can find more information about the campaign at responsiblegamblingweek.org and by searching for the hashtag #RGWeek18 or checking-out Raketech’s social media channels.
