Raketech’s year in a nutshell – looking back at 2018

As the year draws to an end, we took some time to reflect on all of the things we achieved over the last twelve months at Raketech. Has 2018 been intense? Very. Are we planning on slowing down in 2019? Not at all. Read on below to find out everything that has happened…

Never stop growing!

We entered a completely new chapter back in June by listing on the Nasdaq First North Premier. The listing was a massive achievement and made possible by the hard work and commitment from everyone linked to the company over the past few years, growing Raketech grow from a small affiliate start-up, into one of the biggest and most well-respected affiliate marketing companies in Europe. Being a listed company has opened new opportunities for future expansion – strengthening our brand and perception in the market, helping support both our M&A strategy as well as our efforts within Core and Lab.

Raketech continued to grow, bringing not only new challenges but also the motivation to achieve more and more. In May, we welcomed Annika Billberg to the Board of Directors, whose experience and expertise have further strengthened the company. We acquired a number of key assets including Casinofeber.se, Shogun Media and Norskkreditt.no. We partnered with gambling trade body Sper to join a group of companies dedicated to protecting the long-term sustainability of the Swedish gaming industry. We relaunched three of our flagship core products – CasinoGuide.se, Casinobonusar.nu and Bettingsidor.org. Raketech joined forces with innovative payment provider  Trustly to announce a new In-Banner Pay N Play feature that delivers an even faster and easier gaming experience.

Sporty vibes

With the World Cup and Winter Olympics taking place – it was fitting to improve our sports media offering. We extended our family of TV sports guides into the UK and Germany, with TVsportguide.com and TVsportguide.de just in time for the football World Cup. Esportsguide.com was also launched to deliver content to the global esports fanbase. The TV guides family is growing, with more guides, new regions, team members and platform users targeted for 2019!

#TeamRaketech has been busy away from delivering quality sports websites to keep fit and healthy with group activities and sports events. We believe that regular physical activity is good for mental well-being. Thanks to our weekly bootcamp sessions, the bravest of us managed to complete The Grid – Malta’s hardest obstacle course!

Risks worth taking

Have you ever had an idea that you thought would never work? Well, we have tons of ideas and most of them do fail. But the times we see ideas come to life is what drives innovation at Raketech. During 2018 we pushed our limits to the maximum and launched two totally new in-house products in Raketech’s Lab.

Risks are worth-taking when you can imagine its benefits in real life. In 2018 we tried a lot of new things, thinking outside the box and proving to ourselves that creativity is the real key to success. Esportsguide.com was developed to deliver a complete guide to the leading esports tournaments and matches from across the world and Cryptimi.com delivers a trustworthy and reliable guide to all things crypto.

We kept competitive spirit going internally with a Hackathon, where our developers had 24 hours to come up with a revolutionary concept or program that would improve our daily operations. During the “SEO Metrics Anatomisation” meet-up our SEO, content and development teams collaborated together to work on the enhancement of our existing assets – an ongoing process with ever-lasting room for improvement.

Success comes in many forms

We take pride and time to reflect our business achievements, but that’s not all that’s important to us. Being grateful for what we have managed to build and seeing great results, we always aim to provide a positive change wherever we can. This year, #TeamRaketech contributed to making Malta a bit cleaner, by organising a local clean-up initiative back in May. However, it wasn’t just a few streets that got greener, we also made our office greener by taking a number of small, yet significant changes in our headquarters to help the environment. In autumn, we hosted a delicious fundraising barbecue in our penthouse, raising much-needed money for the Service Dogs Malta Foundation. At the beginning of October, we supported Action For Breast Cancer Foundation in Malta and recently turned into Santa’s little helpers to fill Christmas stockings full of donated goodies for people less fortunate during the festive season.

We have continued to make our mark in the industry, speaking at industry seminars and being nominated for EGR, SBC and EGR Nordics. Raketech employees were shortlisted for the Raketech sponsored iGaming Idol Awards, a great event celebrating the achievements of gaming industry talent

We stay up-to-date with industry trends and meet with industry peers whenever a chance occurs. Going to industry events such as ICE in London, Amsterdam Affiliate Conference and SiGMA iGaming Summit in Malta, which attracts thousands of industry professionals from around the globe. We also took the time to find out more about the exciting cryptocurrency and blockchain industry by attending the inaugural DELTA conference and Malta Blockchain Summit.

The NCPE Equality Mark certification was awarded to Raketech for embracing diversity and open-mindedness in the workplace, something we are very proud and that’s linked to our values.

We continued our popular Pow Wow quarterly meet-ups – discussing strategy, celebrating success and sharing the next steps for the company. We had the pleasure of welcoming fantastic guest speakers including Jesper Kärrbrink – Mr Green CEO, and Morten Madsen – Global Gaming Group CMO, who revealed their views on the industry and shared their opinions on the future of iGaming. The Pow Wow meetings have become extremely important to all of us, giving us a chance to catch up on what we might have missed and simply to spend some time with colleagues that we don’t always work with.

Throw confetti, it’s time to celebrate!

The entire team joined together to raise a toast for another great year passed. The Christmas party was the perfect excuse for everyone to relax after a busy year, with live entertainment, drinks flowing and a great festive dinner. Not a bad way to end a year, right? The evening was full of fun and surprises, with four lucky staff winning an all expenses trip to New York in the new year!
